Mainstream media narrative is indeed changing. New York Times admits Ukraine is a proxy war March 29, 2025: https://substack.com/inbox/post/160219459. For the record, I wrote about the proxy war on August 10th, 2024: https://eleanormowens.substack.com/p/the-hero-narrative-poisoned-the-west

It's hard to believe that people actually fell for these narratives, and continue to. It's so important to be discerning about where we get our news.

Thanks for posting, Eleanor.

'Western schooling was so obsessed with teaching us about the Holocaust...'

As we learn more about Israel's powerful influence in US politics, I'm beginning to think that groups like AIPAC pushed for such strong emphasis on the Jews' suffering to manufacture consent for Israel's evil geopolitical agendas supposedly for the sake of the Jews' safety.

I find it very difficult to have well informed conversations these days. Especially on any of the dominant narratives of the day - like Ukraine, or Gaza or Trump's insanity.

There are many reasons for this but if I could sum it up, people are beaten down, overwhelmed, and propagandized. They may latch on to the closest storyline that resonates with their preconceived ideas and don't want to hear anything that causes cognitive dissonance, such as the origins of the Ukraine conflict. When you follow an issue closely this can be very alienating.

Great writing, as usual Eleanor, in these perilous times.

It always surprises me how little people think, the awakening must come but for now the sleep walkers are everywhere
