Is the Empire Pushing an Anti-China Campaign?
My reluctance to immediately accept anti-Chinese narratives based on past lessons
Canada is in the middle of a dumpster fire election right now. I actually just finished a whole essay on this subject, but now I have to write this too quickly, because I am extremely suspicious regarding all these claims of foreign interference going on right now within Canadian media and on Twitter.
I am currently reluctant to believe any narratives floated to Western audiences that are anti-Iranian, anti-Russian, or anti-Chinese because of our current geopolitical climate. I want to explain why, and how it pertains to anti-Chinese sentiment that is flourishing in Canada right now.
Lessons from Iran and Russia
I have learned my lesson about manufactured consent that has been disseminated to the West about the Axis of Resistance. The wars in the Middle East are Zionist, imperialist wars that we were tricked into by the empire so that they could maintain their hegemony regardless of how many civilians died. Trump would like nothing more than to go to war with Iran, regardless of what they do or say, because America and Israel have been planning on going to war with them this whole time anyway. Propaganda is fanning these flames, so any ideas consumed through Western oligarchy-funded media on the subject should be treated with caution and a skeptical eye.
Similarly, I have learned my lesson about Russia. The revival of the Red Scare has reminded me that prior to the invasion of Ukraine, I had been dissuaded from reading anything about world news from the lens of a Russian perspective. While this was framed as avoiding propaganda, this meant when Western media called the invasion of Ukraine “unprovoked,” most of us blindly took their word for it. Our country then took our money to fund the war because we consented to it.
But now I know how much Russia was antagonized, and how the avoidance of real diplomacy has resulted in the loss of thousands of lives. Vladimir Putin is often quoted as having said that “the collapse of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century.” Western propaganda often seizes on this quote as evidence that Putin is interested in imperial expansion, however Putin has also said: “Millions of Russians went to bed in one country and woke up abroad, overnight becoming ethnic minorities in former Soviet republics.” He thus has framed himself as wanting to protect ethnic Russians who remain in formerly Soviet countries. And there is in fact evidence that Russian minorities in non-Russian countries do need protection—Russians living in Ukraine for example do not seem to have the same rights as Ukrainians, and Ukraine has also killed people for “pro-Russian” views. The European Court of Human Rights recently ruled that local police and fire services in Kiev deliberately allowed dozens of anti-Maidan activists to be burned to death by neo-Nazis in 2014, so Putin’s concern here is certainly valid despite the perspective of the West.
America provoked the Euromaidan protests under the guise of “protecting democracy.” The 2014 Maidan massacre was a false flag, the 2014 election in Ukraine a coup. A Western puppet sympathetic to Nazis was installed as Ukraine’s Prime Minister, and Western countries like Britain and Canada have interfered with Ukrainian democracy. The West also sabotaged peace efforts in Ukraine despite the majority of Ukrainians wanting an end to the war, and the West has known Russia saw NATO expansions as a threat to their sovereignty for decades, but they chose to provoke them anyway even though they knew it meant people would die.
So I learned my lesson that about narratives that have been given to us about Russia. The West poked the bear. With this in mind, are they now poking the dragon?
What’s going on with China in the Canadian election?
In Canada, tension with China is ramping up. As I have not been writing on the Pacific Theatre until recently, here’s my impression so far.
Because of Iran and Russia, I am extremely mindful that we are within a climate whereby powerful forces may be working to influence our opinions about China. I recall listening to a discussion with Glenn Diesen a while back, where he was speaking about the global shift between unipolarity to a more multipolar world. In the discussion, geopolitical experts posited that with the defunding of USAID, we would begin to see less American propaganda pushing for the war in Ukraine, but in its place, we could begin to see something else emerge. As America is incapable of maintaining power without war, it was theorized that anti-Chinese propaganda may increase in the place of pro-Ukrainian propaganda, as Trump would shift media funding from demonizing Russia to focus on manufacturing anger towards other “enemies” instead. This may have begun, for example in this statement by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
So while I don’t entirely understand what’s going on with the Paul Chiang drama during the Canadian election, I find it a remarkable coincidence that anti-Chinese sentiment is accelerating right on schedule within the Canadian election.
Did China interfere in Canadian democracy, or is this yet another psyop to stir up anti-Chinese sentiment?
First, I’ll provide context on (some of the) Canadian election drama going on (there are a lot of scandals).
The current narrative I have gathered on the subject—collected from a combination of Liberal state-funded mainstream media, independent media, Chinese media, and Conservative (right of centre) Canadians on social media—is that Toronto-area Liberal candidate (representing Canada’s left of centre/currently ruling party) Paul Chiang made a joke to a Chinese language media news conference that people could collect a bounty if they turned in Conservative candidate Joe Tay to the Toronto Chinese consulate.
This joke was in poor taste, and the context is that Hong Kong police had reportedly issued a bounty and arrest warrant for Tay last December. According to Conservative Canadians on social media, Tay was arrested because of his “pro-democracy” YouTube channel. However, China’s claim is that Tay funded and supported “pro-democracy” activists in Hong Kong, which China views as a security threat. Currently I have no evidence whether Tay is guilty or not, however given the Western empire’s interference in Ukrainian “democracy” as well as “democracy” in many countries abroad, this is not entirely out of the question.
The Canadian drama continued when non-elected Prime Minister Mark Carney defended Chiang, allowing him to keep running. People got mad, so Chiang resigned despite Carney’s endorsement. Given Mark Carney’s globalist ties to the World Economic Forum and Beijing, Conservatives have been accusing Carney of being in bed with China and for “dragging Canada into communism.”
Then, CSIS (Canada’s CIA equivalent) issued two foreign interference claims: 1) that India had interfered in previous Canadian elections in favour of the Conservative party and 2) China had interfered in favor of the Liberal party. As well, multiple “anonymous senior figures” from Erin O’Toole’s Conservative campaign (who ran for Conservative leadership in 2021) alleged that Conservative Bob Saroya lost his seat because Chinese officials were surveilling him and intimidating voters out of voting for him. CSIS claimed the interference was “coordinated and alarming,” which has added further fuel to the fire regarding anti-China sentiment.
I am not here to crack the case on whether China interfered in these elections, but my spidey sense is tingling that something is missing from the whole picture. I don’t yet know what it is, but here’s why I’m proceeding with caution:
My theory: everyone’s a little bit wrong and a little bit right
We live in a world where politics is not West Wing but it’s also not even Veep. It’s more like Game of Thrones, where secrecy, manipulation, and violence plays out in the background, and is invisible to the public. The person wearing the crown is not necessarily the most powerful person in the world. Spies and manipulators and banks have shifting allegiances and incentives that affect everyone’s chess moves, so the story presented to you is the one they choose to present to you. This means that we never have all of the information, so everyone is always a little bit wrong and a little bit right.
So I currently agree and disagree with everyone in different ways about what is going on with Chinese interference in the Canadian election right now. I actually agree, for example, with the Conservative anti-globalists in their claim that re-electing Mark Carney would be very bad for Canada. Like these voices, I similarly do not trust anyone that is involved within the higher echelons of globalist organizations like the WEF, and my understanding is that globalization has played a significant role in the collapse of the West.
However, I believe Conservative Canadians are also falling into an anti-China trap as well as a “stick it to the Libs” trap. Meaning, they might be seeing through the Liberal propaganda, but unable to see through their own, and because the anti-China narrative reinforces their biases, they are seizing on the conclusion of the first narrative offered to them, at times more interested in reinforcing those biases than actually trying to find the truth.
Here's why I’m saying this.
First, Canada already has a foundation that has grown from an anti-Chinese bias. So it is interesting to me that people who claim to be anti-authoritarian would automatically accept allegations from authority figures and organizations without question. The allegations regarding election interference after all come from anonymous Conservative campaign members and Western organizations such as CSIS and Canada’s SITE Task Force which have no incentive to provide neutral perspectives on China. And when you look up what Canada’s SITE Task Force actually is, it is also made up of CSIS, the not-particularly-saintly RCMP, and Global Affairs Canada, the latter of which I am already looking at as suspicious for a few reasons.
So do we trust these institutions without hard evidence? CSIS is the Canadian CIA. Remember, Canada goose-stepped along to support Israel well-after the genocide was confirmed, because we were supporting the interests of the empire. We now know about all of this Mossad shit and CIA stuff and MI6 shit. So why is CSIS’ word untouchable?
I am prepared to believe allegations if the Canadian public is shown evidence, but “this Western funded organization said so” and “that Western politician said so” is not evidence to me.
Second, I have noticed that many anti-globalist Conservative voices are happy to freak out about potential Chinese interference, but then are either silent on Israel, are pro-genocide, or have Israeli flags in their bios. Israel quite clearly has enormous influence over Canada. Why did Canada continue to back Israel’s offensive well after high numbers of Palestinian deaths were reported? Why do we have organizations like CIJA lobbying a high percentage of our politicians or sponsoring them to take trips to Israel? Why is there Zionist influence in our legal system and why do so many churches in Canada fundraise and organize hasbara trips to Israel?
Those that imply Chinese interference exists while ignoring Zionist interference is either stupid, ignorant, or being deliberately hypocritical. As Yves Engler pointed out, while Chiang’s joke about China should not be defended, the joke was clearly treated differently from a joke by Conservative MP Michael Barret, who implied violence against NDP foreign affairs critic Heather McPherson by joking about hearing a pager. He was referring to the Israeli terror attack on Lebanon that killed civilians including children. So why was this joke treated differently? Where is the concern about Israeli interference?
And number three, while I do not defend Carney and certainly believe that there is corruption behind his installation as our Prime Minister, even if he has a pro-China bias, this country actually does need to start re-engaging in diplomacy with other countries, which includes China. Has anyone noticed that Canada has barely any allies? Canada has got to start getting more diplomatic with other countries, or Trump will have a much easier time making us his 51st state.
And here’s the kicker on all of this. I do not believe it is out of the question that there was election interference in 2021 as CSIS is claiming. However, I am unable to assess this as China until that evidence is presented. For example, CSIS claimed that Saroya was being followed and intimidated by suspected Chinese security personnel. Okay, so can the public see the evidence that these people existed and that they were Chinese? Did they whip out their passports to show they were Chinese and not perhaps Chinese-Canadian? I just need more hard evidence outside of allegations.
Questions to consider
I can’t prove whether or not China interfered in the Canadian election. If proof is provided, I’m happy to accept it. But until then, these questions are worth considering:
Who is the entity that most fits the pattern of casting doubt on the elections of other people’s countries?
Is the rest of the Western empire also currently demonizing China right now in their propaganda, and does anyone recall when America blamed China for banning Tiktok, but this was a lie to cover up Israel’s crimes?
Is Canada really sovereign, or are we only so as long as we don’t go against the will of the empire?
And what would be China’s motive for interfering in the Canadian election? China’s economic growth is expanding fast, making flying cars while Canada is not innovating and our debt is increasing. Canada has also spent the past few years supporting the empire’s wars while China has been more neutral. So why exactly should China even care about Canada, from an objective perspective? To just be evil because they’re Chinese? Is that the narrative? This is China’s perspective.
Given the manufactured consent about so many wars that have happened, I call on CSIS and the Canadian federal government to provide hard evidence that China is interfering with this election. Until then, I only consider this allegations.

Hi Eleanor, great stuff on this Substack which I was just introduced to including this marvelous article. I just subscribed.
My name is Dan Fournier, a fiercely INDEPENDENT investigative journalist running my own Substack.
This is a very important article.
BTW, I lived in China from 2008 until late 2021 before returning to China. I can speak Mandarin and read some of it as well.
I think you pose some excellent Qs about China being demonized. I do personally believe this is deliberate. I am objective enough, though, to know all too well about Chinese interference at various levels (social, economic, & political) having lived there and intimately studied their leaders and ways. I am also very much aware as to how China is grossly represented in Western media.
That being said, your article begins by mentioning how Canada (a captured Commonwealth country of the British Empire run by Fabian Socialists since the days of Cecil Rhodes - Chrystia Freeland is a Rhodes Scholar, btw) is on the bandwagon to demonize Russia, Iran, and China - largely at the behest of this Anglo-American Empire.
On the cyber-front the good ol USA is in the lead with their MOSTLY FABRICATED bogus claims. I have meticulously documented their farcical ops in 10 addenda to one of my articles, see here for how they spew these fairy tales. I have some great examples on how the Mossad has duped Trump re so-called Iran hacks, laughable!

As for Russia & the Ukraine, I agree with you in that Canada has already wasted billions to support the very corrupt Ukraine. My 2nd most article is on this conflict and here are some others to this effect:
